Elisabeth’s Escape
The two went into hiding in Vienna, Austria, an hour away from Elisabeth’s native Amstetten. However, her escape was short-lived. Her parents reported her missing and the police found her within 3 weeks. Elisabeth returned home and finished her course, then was offered a waitressing job in Linz. Although she was still in her parent’s home, the job offer meant that she was on her way to living her own life. She was 18 and no longer had to answer to them, since she made her own money now, and her own choices. That changed drastically on August 24, 1984 when she disappeared without a trace.
