Shortly after that, Whitney came home to find her daughter in the bedroom screaming, all alone. Melissa was just standing in the other room, staring into space rather than attending to the baby. This was truly alarming to Whitney. She talked it over with Chris and the two decided they needed to get to the bottom of the situation.
As Whitney reviewed Raylee’s behavior, it slowly started to dawn on her: Raylee started screaming every time Melissa approached. The first might Melissa walked into her bedroom, Whitney started to yell and cry, but Whitney thought she was just tired or feeling under the weather. But as the Matneys reviewed the last couple of weeks, they realized that more sinister things were at play. When Melissa came to work each day, Raylee would run to her parents screaming, even hiding behind their legs.
